Corona Virus & Annual General Meetings

Corona Virus & Annual General Meetings

With the Corona virus in its infancy and spreading exponentially around the world, already on Switzerland’s southern border, it may be irresponsible to have thousands of shareholders from across Europe come together in close proximity in an enclosed venue for companies‘ Annual General meetings.

The Swiss AGM season begins this Friday with the Novartis AGM, and many more in March. Companies may be prudent in considering the scenario of postponing their AGM, versus the blowback of holding an AGM, and risking a person incubating the virus, infecting fellow Shareholders. Shareholders will more than likely accept, understand and respect a postponement until the virus is better contained.
